Harrison is the newest of the
Gungahlin Suburbs.
Harrison is named after Peter
Harrison (b. 1918) who was the chief Planner of the National
Capital Development Commission from 1959 to 1967. He was
also a member of the National Capital Planning Committee from
1979 to 1984 and a Fellow of the Urban Research Unit of the
National Australian University from 1967. Peter Harrison
died in 1990.
The street names of Harrison are
based on the themes of Natural Features, Waterfalls, Plains,
Tablelands and Plateaux |
