When you visit the picturesque
village of Hall it's easy to see why Helen Purdam, Principal of the
Hall Veterinary Surgery, has called the area home for over 23 years!
Helen remembers wanting to be a vet
from the age of 5. "My love of animals grew by spending weekends
on a friend's horse and cattle stud for the next 15 years".
Helen graduated from the University of Queensland in 1980 and worked her
first year in a mixed practice in the Lockyer Valley (Queensland). As the first female vet to work there and looking sixteen at the
time, Helen vividly remembers a lot of disbelieving farmers' faces.
In 1982 she moved to Hall.
Over the years, Helen has participated
in distance education in medicine and surgery, and also qualified in
veterinary acupuncture. "I'm most fortunate to share the Hall
Veterinary practice with three other vets and six nurses who are a
wonderfully competent and fun team". "I find veterinary
practice is immensely rewarding and challenging and gain great joy
from the company of animals and the people who care for them".
Today, Hall Veterinary Surgery
operates from modern, well equipped premises in Victoria Street.
The Surgery specialises in all
facets of animal care, preventative medicine (including health
checks, vaccinations, diet and parasite control), as well as
veterinary medicine,
surgery and dentistry.
Office Manager (and self
confessed 'general handyman') Andrew Purdam keeps the practice going by
making sure the office and computer systems operate as they should.
In a previous life, Andrew worked in the Computer Service Centre at
the ANU and he has harnessed these skills to create a fantastic web
site for the practice. The web site is full of information about the
practice and the people who care for the animals in it. They
certainly are a very diverse and fascinating bunch of people.
Check out the Hall Veterinary Surgery
web site
- it's well worth a look.
After a trip to Hall Veterinary
Surgery it's easy to see why this country practice is so successful.
It's professionally run, and the friendly team do everything in their
power to make sure your pet receives the best possible care.

A word from
www.gungahlin.net
When our family cat "Splat" went missing for a few days recently
the kids were naturally upset. We tried all the usual
methods of finding "Splat" - door knocking, a notice at the
local shops (we even put up a lost and found notice here on The
Gungahlin Region On-line! web site).
Just when we had almost given up
hope it was a much skinnier, but clearly relieved "Splat" that
strolled back into our back yard. The kids were rapped!
After all the welcome home cuddles
and pats, we realised "Splat" had been involved in some sort of
scrape and needed some Veterinary assistance. We didn't
hesitate to contact a real local - Hall Veterinary Surgery - we're glad we did.
The friendly team, lead by Lesa,
were fantastic. They professionally looked after "Splat",
dressing his wounds and nursing him back to health in no time at
all. We even decided to have "Splat" de-sexed while he was
at the surgery - hopefully stopping his urge to disappear for
days on end.
"Splat" is back home with us now
he looks a picture of health.
We couldn't be happier with the
service we received from Hall Veterinary Surgery and have no
hesitation recommending them for all your animal care needs.
Call Hall Veterinary Surgery on (02) 6230 2223 and tell them
we sent you!
